Sandvik consider closure of unit in Finland

Sandvik is considering the closure of its site in Turku, Finland and optimize its site in Tampere, Finland. This is in line with the previously communicated supply chain optimization program.

The considered closure and optimization could potentially impact approximately 470 jobs on site in Turku and up to 30 jobs in Tampere. The company has informed employees and the local unions earlier today. Consultations regarding redundancies will commence shortly.

The main activities performed by Sandvik in Turku are machining, assembly, welding, painting and testing of underground loaders and trucks. The main activities performed by Sandvik in Tampere are machining, assembly, painting and testing of surface and underground drill rigs.
